Amoka Cafe, Sunshine

Design Story

The interior design strategy for this hospitality design project focused on a bright space, that is functional and efficient.  A space that integrates seamlessly into the new Sunshine Skills Hub at Victoria University Polytechnic.  A cafe that becomes a central ‘go to’ point for both students and staff, to access quality food and a friendly hospitable environment.  Our client actually studied at Victoria University, therefore had a strong connection to the university, the different campuses and student life.    Working with the existing specifications the key materials we used include; tiles, stone, stainless steel, and vinyl to complement the wood facade and concrete columns.  With a mostly grey, white, yellow colour scheme to draw attention and create vibrancy a key design element was the vertical line placement of the tiles which replicated the timber panels on the facade of the cafe.
